Through My (Contact) Lenses - Itachuna Rajbari # 1

A surprise and sudden trip to Itachuna Rajbari on 01 August, 2019 planned surreptitiously by hubby dear. A much-required, welcome change indeed!
We left Kolkata after an early lunch on Thursday afternoon around 1.30pm after filling up our tank and checking our wheels, using Google Aunty to guide us.
A smooth drive on the almost-traffic-free Durgapur Expressway, towards Barddhaman for a good one hour before we reached Azad Hind Dhaba, our landmark and forced tea-stop to guide us to the State Highway. Driving on this PWD maintained road, we reached the Magra-Gurap road crossing where we turned left into the Polba-Khanyan road.

A breathtaking view of the countryside - lush green expanse with rain clouds in the horizon, added to the romance as we soaked in the freshness of rural Bengal.
The pictures clicked from my mobile phone are a small attempt to capture all this.

Lush green open spaces - a rare sight these days!

One of the numerous 'pukur's (pond) peeping out through the greenery!

                                Beautiful tree lined rural avenue....

Children returning from school....a pleasant sight indeed...

Our first glimpse as we enter the driveway of the Rajbari.....
